Can definitely see Caye Casas' The Coffee Table (2022/2024) being nominated as one of the most disturbing films this year.
Not going to spoil, or link any trailers and clips, as it's best going in completely blind. However, here's the film synopsis:
Jesus and María are a couple going through a difficult time in their relationship. Nevertheless, they have just become parents. To shape their new life, they decide to buy a new coffee table. A decision that will change their existence.
I will add that its writers must be twisted individuals for even conceiving such a premise, let alone make such a deeply uncomfortable comedy out of it.
Currently available on Shudder.
