The pantheon of British comics which really struck the right notes of interest for your host were 2000AD, Eagle and the very shortlived Scream! Regrettably, the latter only lasted for fifteen issues because of a printers strike. Thankfully, a couple of the stories lived on by continuing in Eagle later on.
Scream! was a contemporary British take on the infamous EC Comics stories which achieved notoriety in the 1950s thanks to Dr. Frederick Wortham's scaremongering book, The Seduction of the Innocent. As a young 'un, Scream! was a great accompaniment to all the Hammer and Amicus films I would stay up late for with stories like The Dracula File, Monster and best of all The Thirteenth Floor.
Would love to grab the new collected hardback celebrating the comic's fortieth anniversary, but the price keeps yo-yoing up and down, putting me off. This time around, I hope it stays in print long enough to cop it.

Never read Scream but I remember The Thirteenth Floor being in Eagle too.
I remember Doomlord started out as a photo strip, and the bloke in the Doomlord mask gave me bad dreams 4 real. Was a relief when it became a regular comic strip.
Doomlord was the only photo story that didn’t remind me of some tabloid agony column. Wasn’t a fan of Sgt. Streetwise or Joe Soap.
Revisited The Thirteenth Floor thanks to the reprints. Has aged really well. House of Daemon was another great Eagle strip with an obvious Scream! vibe.
There’s a cool scene in Doctor Who and the Daleks where Cushing is reading old school Eagle while the rest are heavily into their science books.
Up there with The Master watching The Clangers.
Doctor Who versus The Mekon would be a sick crossover.
Found a pic of The Cush reading Eagle.
"Up there with The Master watching The Clangers."
Guessing John Sims's The Master watching Teletubbies was an obvious reference to that scene written by Russell T Davis.
Ah, good point.
If he thought the Teletubbies having screens in their stomachs was impressive, he'd be absolutely astonished by Krang from the TMNJ cartoon.
Curious to see what RTD delivers when Doctor Who returns next month.
I REALLY hope the drag queen character doesn't turn out to be the new Master, but that's definitely a total RTD move.
It certainly is.
Guessing Anita Dobson's Mrs. Flood might be the Rani, maybe.
